I am at a loss to understand why anyone would want to cut funding for bicycling projects. Very little money is involved and the return on investment is tremendous. Can anyone tell me just how bike riding is controversial? Or why there is no question that we must support highway funds for cars but resistance to public funds for alternative transportation? Is it corporate profits at stake? Is it just plain meanness? Both, maybe, and it pisses me off. I’ve written my state senators. Probably you have too. But if not, here’s a link to the People for Bikes’ blog post that makes it easy for you to write to your state senators.
