Every time I visit Pittsburgh, my former hometown, I see evidence of the growing importance of cycling there. This week I saw new-to-me bike lanes, many cyclists using them, and bike racks everywhere I went. There are two bike shops on Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill. I got to go into one if them, Pro Bikes.
The charming bamboo(?) bicycle in the photo was casually set out on the shop’s first floor amidst an array of Specialized, Cannondale and other bikes and a nice assortment of clothing and accessories. Upstairs many more bikes were on display, including some nice looking commuters.
